Our selection process

The application

After submitting your application, you should receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your application within one week.

We will decide whether to interview you on the basis of the information provided in your application form and/or CV measured against the job description and person specification. You will also be judged on the quality of your demo work, where relevant.

We aim to let you know of the outcome of your application within two weeks, but it can take longer. Please assume that if, after having acknowledged receipt of your application, we do not contact you again within the next five weeks, we have decided not to pursue your application any further.

The interview

If you succeed the initial selection stage, you will usually be invited to attend an interview at our Derby studio. We try to give people plenty of notice of the date of their interview. Normally, candidates are interviewed by at least two people and sometimes three or more. This varies depending on the role and the particular team/project. Prior to the interview, we will tell you exactly who will be interviewing you and the approximate length of time the process will take. On occasions, we use aptitude tests to help us assess candidates in certain areas but don't worry; they're not designed to trip you up! If you are required to undertake a test as part of your interview process, you will be informed beforehand.

If you are invited to interview and require any special arrangements (e.g., a signer or wheelchair accessible venue) to be made in order to take full part in the interview, please let us know and we will make every effort to provide assistance

On the whole, applicants residing within the UK will be expected to make their own travel arrangements. Reasonable travelling expenses are usually reimbursed for those travelling from outside Derby, as long as receipts are provided.

For applicants residing overseas, Eurocom generally organises and pays for travel and accommodation. With Eurocom only a short drive from three international airports (Nottingham East Midlands, Birmingham and Manchester), we can be reached quickly and easily from anywhere in Europe, and beyond.

In exceptional circumstances (for example, if it is not practicable for you to travel to Derby for an interview), we may carry out a telephone interview with you, although this is not the norm.

Final points

Please be aware that, as a UK employer, we are required to ensure that potential employees are legally entitled to work here and are not subject to any immigration control which would prevent them doing so, and we will ask you to bring documentary evidence of this with you to your interview.

Once all the candidates have all been interviewed, we will make a final decision about who should be offered the post. We try not to keep candidates waiting longer than necessary before informing them of the outcome of their interview. If you are not successful at the interview stage, you will be notified as soon after the interview as is possible. Unsuccessful candidates are usually given the opportunity to ask for feedback about their interview. We are happy to give constructive feedback.
